GALE CENGAGE LEARNING
Gale Cengage Learning database is a central storehouse for two specific databases: the CPI.Q Canadian Periodicals Database (over 1200 articles from various Canadian magazines), and the Gale Virtual Reference Centre.
ENCYCLOPEDIA OF BRITISH COLUMBIA
The Encyclopedia of British Columbia is a source of information on all things relating to BC people, places and things. Includes over 4000 entries, hundreds of photos, maps, tables charts, and links to related websites. It is also part of the massive KnowBC website with links to search by subject, maps, and articles. Make sure to pick up a login information sheet from the library in order to access this databases with province-related information.
WORLD BOOK ONLINE ENCYCLOPEDIA
The classic source of information, the World Book Encyclopedia now has an amazing electronic version. It is very powerful with embedded videos, images, articles, diagrams, and other features. This is a great 'starting point' when beginning your research as you define terms and specific components related to a chosen topic. This resource is more about breadth than depth and researching may not reveal the deeper or more specific information needed.
EBSCO
This is one of the most powerful digital databases around. Most post-secondary institutions and public libraries utilize this service. The EBSCO bundle includes a wide range of resources targeting primary through secondary students and even offers professional development opportunities to teachers. EBSCO includes over 1750 periodicals, 8300 journals, 100 000 primary source documents, 300 000 photos, maps and flags, 72 full text primary school magazines, 60 000 juvenile fiction records, and 520 full text education journals. First-time users are strongly recommended to get assistance from Mr. Yasinchuk prior to beginning. LEARN360
This is the newest edition to our database collection! Learn360 is a powerful video resource that allows students and teachers to set up accounts in order to stream and/or download from over 8200 videos and/or clips of videos. Many videos come with downloadable activity sheets and recommendations for curricular use. Teachers can even search by provincial IRP standards! The videos cover all subjects and grade levels.
